franz is a multi-function piece that takes on the role of lamp and mirror through a simple, playful and intuitive manipulation. It mysteriously shows the reflection of its users when it is off. When on, it surprisingly reveals the light coming from inside it and illuminates both the front mirror and the wall. Unlike conventional sconces, in which the wiring needs to be built into the wall, the franz lamp’s wiring is not only exposed, but also functional, since it is responsible for turning the lamp on or off. This reduces the installation of the lamp to just hanging it and plugging it into the power outlet.
